  1. The top class of our Junior School in Middlesex spent a great week here in June 1961. I remember most of the girls were in the very top bedroom in the roof above the front door, with double bunks with those sheet sleeping bags along all the walls. The garden was lovely, and went down to the river. It seemed a world away from our 1930s London suburb.
