New Owners for Duddon Estuary YH
According to a story in the North-West Evening Mail, a couple have taken on this enterprise youth hostel, which perches outside the south-west corner of the Lake District National Park. Returning from a period touring around Australia and New Zealand…
They travelled across the country looking for a spot which they could compare with Down Under. They chose Millom.
The former ironworks town is “as beautiful and scenic as New Zealand” according to David Friend, one of the new owners. One can only suppose that the special effects in Lord of the Rings were even more impressive than previously thought!
Hyperbole aside, Duddon hostel does command an excellent view of the southern fells, and can act as a base for exploring the South-West Lakes. It’s served by a railway station for the car-free, and its relatively small size makes it well suited to groups. News of the enthusiastic new owners should be warmly welcomed.
More information can be found on the hostel’s own website.

I am pleased that Duddon Hostel is going to remain open. The previous owners were very helpful. I have stayed at this Hostel twice, I wish the new owners “David & Carol” all the best for the future and I look forward to staying again soon.
P.S. The website link for Duddon YHA does not display the site?

It looks like the website must have belonged to the previous owners.
You’ll have to make do with the YHA’s own page about the hostel. The problem is, YHA don’t think they’re running a hostel in Duddon Estuary right now:
