Telegraph Plugs YHA
In their Top 10 links for affordable UK Holidays, published yesterday, the Daily Telegraph has some good things to say about hostelling:
It is hard to resist the encouraging tone of the YHA website. “Why not?” asks a heading, followed swiftly by “Stay in a barn, from £6”. This may conjure up an image of bedding down on straw surrounded by steaming cows, but the truth is that youth hostels are now slick operations and increasingly offer family rooms as well as doubles and twins. City hostels, often newly built, are a great way to have a family city break on a budget.
Articles like this just underline the point that the credit crunch presents an opportunity to YHA as well as a challenge. After all, the association was founded during the mother of all recessions.
Expect to meet a few first-time hostellers this summer. Who knows, they might want to join your group…
