YHA Bookings Up

Filed under: Media, NewsChris Hunt @ 5:16 pm

January has seen a rise in bookings for UK self-catering holiday providers, the YHA amongst them, according to a story in today’s Independent on Sunday.

They’re benefiting from the effects of the credit crunch and the weak pound, both of which are encouraging people to stay at home and look for simpler accommodation. Remember, the YHA was founded during a world recession – so this could be a record year.

Get your bookings in early folks!

Yes, many will stay at home and seek simpler accomodation but, given that it’s a world recession, won’t this have a serious impact on numbers of overseas visitors to our Youth Hostels ?

Possibly but the weakness of the pound against the euro and the dollar make the UK a more attractive destination for those who are going to travel.
