Hostelling and Local Groups
So Many Reasons to Join…

Youth Hostels are getting better all the time. With 230 Youth Hostels, you can stay in a historic property such as St Briavels Castle in the Forest of Dean, or see what’s on offer in a state-of-the-art purpose built building such as St Pancras in London. And what better way to enjoy the relaxed and informal atmosphere of these Youth Hostels than in the company of a friendly party of like-minded people.

Hostelling and Local Groups are made up of YHA members who either live in the same locality or share the same hobbies. There are over 80 Groups throughout England and Wales, so there’s bound to be one near you - and if there isn’t we’ll give you all the help and advice you need to set up your own Group.

With a Hostelling and Local Group you are never alone. Whether it’s hostelling, cycling, a gentle stroll or a long distance walk, you’ll have the opportunity to take part in many activities within your Group. The social scene is normally action packed with quizzes, barbecues, dances, theatre visits - in fact whatever the members want to organise.

Whatever your age and whatever your hobbies be it cycling, walking or Youth Hostelling there’s a Hostelling and Local Group to suit you.

As a member of a Group you’ll also have the opportunity to travel and explore the length and breadth of England and Wales taking part in a variety of other Groups’ activities - everything from conservation work to hill walking - and meeting even more new friends.

Some Groups are keen to explore the 5,000 Youth Hostels in 60 countries around the world. From organised treks to simple relaxing beach holidays.

There are so many different Youth Hostels just waiting for you to visit them. By joining a Hostelling and Local Group you can enjoy these terrific hostels in the company of a friendly party of like minded people.
